Exercise Screening for Pregnancy

Exercise during pregnancy is one of the best things that an expecting mother can do for her mind and body, as well as the health of the fetus…provided there are no contraindications to training. Welcome to the Maternafit Blog!

I’m pleased to introduce my new blog, Maternafit, which will explore various aspects of prenatal and post-partum fitness. This is a topic that has been of great interest to me for many years. I’ve lectured internationally on pregnancy training and recently contributed a chapter on the subject to a special populations text. Moreover, my company, Maternafit, has long been a leader in prescribing safe and effective workouts for pregnant women.

My mission here, in this blog, is to educate and inform people on the importance maintaining fitness both during and after pregnancy. Benefits include improved weight management, reduced incidence of gestational diabetes, decreased incidence of preeclampsia, enhanced body image, better psychological well-being, reduced lower back pain, improved fetal development, easier labor, and reduced incidence of varicose veins. I’m looking forward to imparting cutting-edge advice that helps to motivate and inspire, as well as to dispelling many of the rampant myths on the subject. Feel free to leave comments and ask questions–I want this to be an interactive experience.
